Academy Rules

          
                
1. Treat your fellow students as you would wish to be treated
 
2. Look after your training partner at all times
 

3. When your training partner taps or says “Stop” it means stop 

4. When the instructor tells you to stop, Stop

 
5. Hygiene
– Please be considerate of your training partners by practicing good personal hygiene. A Clean and Dry kimono (or shorts and rashguard for “no-gi”) must be worn for every class. Fingernails and toenails must be kept trimmed

6. Sparring – Slamming, twisting leg locks (heel hooks etc) and neck cranks (spine manipulations) of any kind are strictly forbidden unless otherwise instructed. If you are not sure if a particular submission is allowed please see the instructor, and always remember rules 1 – 4 above. 

 
7. Injury
– Alert the instructor immediately, if they have not seen the occurrence. If someone is injured and blood is exposed, cease training immediately. NO ONE is to touch or try to clean blood up. Only at Hunter Valley Jiu Jitsu staff member is to handle the situation. A fully stocked first aid kit is available for use at all classes; please see the instructor if you require
any First Aid items. All students are to have a personal medical kit for any minor injuries (swabs, band aids, strapping tape etc.) It is the students responsibility to notify instructors of an injury sustained whilst training, regardless of how minor it may seem

8. While training remove all jewellery: watches, rings, earrings, body piercing, necklaces, bracelets, etc.  The risk of injury is greatly increased without the removal of jewellery

 
9. Mouth Guard, Ear guards,  Soft Groin Protectors and Knee pads
are highly recommended
for all students
